May-June 2025 ANC 3/4G Civic Core Design Concepts Survey

July 6, 2025 Update:

ANC 3/4G is pleased to share the results of the 2025 Civic Core Designs Survey. Linked below are the attachments to all reports: total replies, ANC-only replies, both with comments (unedited), individual reports by ANC single member district, and a report of paper surveys taken.

The commission conducted a thorough review of all responses to ensure the integrity of the survey data. As part of this process, 79 submissions were removed due to inconsistencies with expected participation patterns. The final results reflect this careful analysis and represent a reliable and inclusive snapshot of community feedback.

Survey Monkey has the facility to capture IP addresses as part of each survey response which the ANC employed. IP addresses do not reveal personal identity or street address and thus do not compromise anonymity. The commission accepted multiple SurveyMoney responses from the same IP address to avoid disenfranchising any plausible survey participant. However, submissions exceeding a reasonable threshold were excluded based on observed patterns in timing, uniformity of responses, and distribution across ANC single member districts.

We thank all participants for their input and encourage everyone to review the findings as we continue working together to shape the future of the Civic Core.

Survey Announcement:

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3/4G is pleased to announce the Civic Core Design Concepts Survey. The survey is available here. The companion document, referenced in the survey to help visualize and compare the concepts, is available here.

The survey seeks to understand community preferences for the proposed designs and perspectives on housing at the Civic Core more broadly. The survey findings will inform the commission’s official actions and provide critical feedback for the District.

The Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) has extended the period for the ANC’s input on the Civic Core redevelopment until July 10 to allow time to conduct the survey and incorporate its results.

The ANC strongly encourages all commission area residents to take the survey and express their views. The survey will run through June 29. Questions and comments as well as requests for paper copies should be conveyed to: Bruce Sherman, Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, ANC 3/4G 02, [email protected], 202-798-1420.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

January 2025 DC Snow Removal and Leaf Collection Survey

DC Code [§ 1–309.10 (m)] establishes that “Each Commission shall monitor complaints of Commission area residents with respect to the delivery of District government services and file comments on same with the appropriate District government entity and the Council.” Hearing from many constituents about these two services, we decided to create a survey to gather neighborhood views. We weren’t just looking for complaints, however. We wanted any feedback our neighbors cared to provide.

Typically, the ANC would provide feedback from Commissioners and any community members who attend a meeting. Attendance oscillates between 50-75 people, and of that number maybe a half-dozen will speak on a given issue. So, to get feedback at scale, we ran an online questionnaire for four days, January 23-27, asking neighbors to rate DPW’s performance on both removing the snow after recent storms and on collecting leaves going back to late October.

Slightly more than 400 ANC 3/4 residents overall took the survey in the four days. Coverage was ANC-wide, but several SMDs were over-represented because of targeted email appeals to take the survey.
