I’m in my third two-year term on the ANC.
I grew up in small town Vermont. I’ve spent my adult life in big cities -- Boston, New York and Washington. I know what’s precious about small. I also know that things change. I see myself as trying to help Chevy Chase DC manage changes for the better in ways that still protect its scale.
I’ve been a member of the Spotlight Team at the Boston Globe, a national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and an investigative reporter for ProPublica. I’ve done stints in the government as chief speechwriter for the Treasury Secretary during the 2008-09 financial crisis and a member of the first implementation team for the Affordable Care Act. I was a visiiting fellow at the Urban Institute.
I’m a widower and the father of now-adult twins. I garden. I want to say I still run, but it doesn’t look much like running anymore. I try to look past the current political darkness towards a brighter day.
