We’re fortunate to live in a quiet enclave where we benefit from a walkable, livable community that’s close to the abundant habitat and beautiful scenery of Rock Creek Park. As idyllic as our community may seem, we are not immune from the complex issues found throughout other communities in Washington, D.C. Our ANC has tackled relevant topics and is actively addressing critical issues such as the Connecticut Avenue business district project, development of the Chevy Chase Community Center and library projects, and long stemming racial justice concerns. Thus, it’s more important than ever that the community’s voice informs ANC decisions. Empowering residents with a chance to weigh in on policies, projects, and priorities offers residents an opportunity to pursue community priorities, ensure accountability from government agencies and officials, strengthen the governing process, and assist with effective government oversight. ANC Commissioners are the conduit in this process.
I’m committed to engaging with neighbors so that I am fully informed about the issues that are important to you. I want to make sure you, as members of this community, are aware of important ANC decisions and that you feel like you’re part of the process, not a bystander in the process. As ANC Commissioner, I pledge to:
- Build a strong communication network to ensure residents are informed of the issues affecting our Single Member District, the ANC, and local government;
- Leverage our collective ideas and solutions to assist the ANC in making informed decisions on policies, resolution, and decisions affecting our community; and
- Hold our elected officials accountable to our priorities and values in the ANC and the D.C. government.
I believe the position of ANC Commissioner is truly one of public service. To learn more about me please follow me on Twitter @GoreforANC34G01, or email me directly at [email protected].
